Needlework Marking Sampler wrought by Mary Elizabeth Tucker

This creator of this needlework sampler was likely Mary Elizabeth Tucker (1832-1912) of Ohio when she was 10 years old. Mary was born on December 24, 1832 to Samuel Tucker (1798-1851) and Mary Ellen Sells (1804-1855). Her father was born in New York and settled in Tuscarawas County, Ohio as early as 1820, when he married Mary Ellen Sells.

Mary Elizabeth married Richard Gibbs in 1855. They had four children and later moved to Indiana, about 1875. She died on April 24, 1912 and is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Knox, Indiana.
